Lumiere Cosmetics Mineral Makeup!

Lumiere cosmetics were giving the chance to bloggers on twitter to sample a few of their makeup products. As I hadn't tried any mineral makeup before which is shocking I know but I tend to stay away from any powder products on my skin apart from blush and bronzer but even then I prefer creams. I have decided to give mineral makeup a try to see if they really do live up to the hype.

I was sent 7 little pots of their mineral makeup which includes 2 mineral foundations, 1 Blush, 1 Bronzer and 3 eye shadows. I have looked on their website and they have a huge array of different colours on there. I'm glad that I received wearable neutral colours because I wear them the most and I wanted to get lots of wear of of these.

The 2 colours that I received are Medium Warm and Light to medium warm.
The lightest shade is a better match for my skin than the dark shade but I have tried using them both together and it is just fine. I'm not a huge fan of these powders as they don't blend all that well especially if I have applied moisturiser on before, the powder will just cling on to the first place that I apply it, so the coverage doesn't look even it just looks patchy. I think if i had a kabuki brush to really buff the powder in it may work better than just the regular powder brush.

This was as even as I could get this foundation to be as you can see, there is a big brown patch on my cheek ( oh and a nice little brush hair)

Spiced Apple  and CinnamonThese colours do not suit my skin at all and when paired with the mineral foundation powder I just look like a powdered mess! I cannot work with these products at all they don't look natural on the skin and they make so much mess and just refuse to blend.

The colours look lovely when swatched but not on my cheeks, I may use them as eye shadows instead.

On a much more positive note, the eye shadows I received were beautiful! just what I wanted and I will definitely get a lot of use out of them.
Soft brown, Halo and Nougat are the colours. Soft brown comes out a goldy brown colour and I use that all over the lids. Halo is the most gorgeous highlight colour that I own and it is perfect for the inner corners of the eyes. Nougat is great for the crease and adding depth to the eyes and the socket.

Overall this mineral makeup wasn't really my thing, that's not to say that I wont be trying any other mineral makeup because I am on the lookout to find the perfect one and this is just the beginning. I am very pleased with the eye shadows though, they blend beautifully and apply very pigmented I would definitely recommend these if you like the Barry M loose eye shadows.

Availability:  Lumiere Cosmetics website HERE
Pricing: The website is US pricing but they range from $8 to $20 depending on the size jar that you want
Marks: 5/10 overall but the eye shadows 9/10. They lost one point because I'm picky and I hate fallout with loose pigments!

Looks beautiful on the eye, was that one particular colour you had on in the picture or all of them mixed? :)

  6. It's a shame you didn't like them. I almost exclusively use mineral foundation (Laura Mercier) but I find they tend to vary between companies. The eye shadows are really gorgeous though, I love the look you put together.

  11. I've haven't really have much luck with mineral makeup either, BareMinerals will give my next stop probably. Thanks for this thorough review though, based on your judgement I think I'll give this brand a pass.

  13. I've never tried mineral make-up either, and like you I prefer cream products because they seem more blendeable. I'm glad you like the eyeshadows though; they do look lovely! xx
