*Warning this may be quite a lengthy post*
On Monday I attended my first blogging event in London, it was all very exciting. I learnt so much from this event and it was definitely worth the mission down to London!
This post is going to be everything that had happened at the event for those of you who did not attend and were not following the #HPMSocial feed on twitter.
The event started at 9:00am which I was surprisingly early for because I was almost positive that I would have got lost around London searching for it but my trusty maps app on my iPhone got me there no problem!
When we arrived we got our name tags and goody bags and then went into the blogger bar for breakfast.
I had to restrain from eating to many of these yummy sinful pastries! but they were delicious!
The actual event and speakers started an hour after breakfast which gave me the chance to speak to some other lovely bloggers & Sponsors. It was great to see everyone in person after reading their blogs for a while.
The first sponsor that I visited was Biotherm and got the chance to speak to them about their products and which ones would be suitable for my skin. I picked up a few of the products to take home. I also went to kiehl's and bourjois and picked up some great products from them too!
There was also some great perfumes to try with samples so take away my favourite was the Ellie Saab perfume and will definitely be putting it on my Christmas list!
I was also excited to see that China Doll Boutique was there and go to speak to Nhuc Tran who was lovely and view some of her gorgeous clothing.
Feel good drinks were also there and we were able to try some of their yummy cocktails and fruit juices which were also very nice and refreshing I had the apple and blueberry flavour!
Shu Uremura was also there giving everybody makeovers and false eyelashes. I would have loved the false eyelashes but we didn't have much time in between the presentations. I did manage to get my hair done at Hersheon's salon which I loved and opted for big loose waves.
Sam's Volumous blow dry and my loose waves
Now for the actual events, the first speaker was Gary Davis from Why Communicate
who shared his useful knowledge to us bloggers.
SEO (search engine optimisation) which I thought was absolutely useful and I would never have known about SEO If I had never attended this event! Using google analytics, AdWords/keywords, Guest posts, Alt tags, Linking out and more! so that people can find your blog on search engines.
"Making sure that your blog post has a good relevant title can improve traffic for up to 75%"
"Make sure that you rename your Images so that google Images can pick up on your photos so rename IMG_3455567 to Mac Shy girl swatch etc..."
He also told us about the different blogging platforms to use and the widgets to include on your blog to ensure maximum traffic. "Using a popular posts widget can help to draw traffic to your blog" Gary also told us the powers of social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Linked In, Tumblr, Flickr, Youtube, Google + and many more and how they can really promote your blog and get it out there to a large audience.
Rebecca Miskin from
Hearst came after Gary and she spoke to us about print Vs media and comparing statistics between the two.

"A blog is made every second" "
Is online media taking over print? magazines that are released every month are usually too late because everything has already been seen online"
The Third speaker of the day was
Sháá Wasmund, Cosmopolitans business woman of the year and the founder of
smarta she has also written a book called 'Stop Talking Start Doing' which I managed to pick up a copy of and I read it on the train back from London, It has given me the heads up to find my niche and decide what I want to do in life. Sháá was my favourite speaker of the day, she came prepared with notes but totally scrapped them in the end, she came across as if she was speaking to us as friends. She is a very inspirational woman. She talked about how to make things happen and that we shouldn't be ashamed for wanting to make money from our blogs as long as we are passionate about it. She was a great public speaker and I wanted to listen to every last thing that she had to say.

We then had a lunch break and after followed the publicist and PR guru
Mark borkowski who told us about PR stunts and event went on about Jedward and the fact that they are like marmite which shows that we shouldn't focus on people hating our blog but blog for those that love it.
"Nothing is original steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination authenticity is invaluable; Originality is non existent".
The Final speaker was Jane Cunningham from
British Beauty Blogger. I was excited to see Jane as I have been reading BBB for quite a long time so i was keen to hear some of her tips and experiences. She talked us thorough the relationships with PR's and bloggers and that we as bloggers should keep our blogs a part of ourselves, we shouldn't let PR companies tell us the content that we should feature on them.
"Make sure PR's know who you are, send them a Tweet or an email or even write them a letter but don't be a diva about it if you don't get offered a sample your blog may not be what they are looking for.If this happens just be professional about it"
"You do not have to accept every sample that gets offered to you and make sure that samples that you do accept fit in with your blog instead ask the PR for things that perhaps may be a little more suited"
"Don't feel pressurised to write a good review about a product just because you have been sent it, always give your honest opinion because people come to your blog for good honest reviews"
To round the day off we were joined by guest panels which were beauty bloggers and fashion bloggers to share their experiences and tips with us. They all own such fabulous blogs and have come so far throughout their time blogging so I enjoyed listening to what they had to say because everybody has to start somewhere. We were able to ask them questions and find out a little bit more about how they got into blogging and how they gained a large following.
I hope this post wasn't too long, but I really wanted you to see the whole day not just a little round up. The day was fantastic and it was totally worth going to because i feel like I have learned so much and my motivation to do what I want has massively improved. If you didn't manage to attend the event this year and would like to attend next year, make sure you register your interest

If you would like to see a post on what I received in my goody bag that day, let me know in the comments!
