Getting Ready for NYE Part 1 Pampering!

Its coming towards the end of 2011 and New Years Celebrations are 2 days away. It has been quite a good year for me I have learnt a lot and met some lovely people this year, so I want to enter 2012 with all positiveness for the year ahead. I will be going out on New Years Eve with my boyfriend and some friends so I want to make sure that I look my best!

Today I decided to have a little pamper day using some of the products from beauty boxes that I have been saving for a special occasion.

I started off by running a hot bath and using these 'Dead Sea Spa Magik' Bath salts as they are supposed to soften skin and relax you. I received this in my Glossy Box, They were nothing special I didn't notice anything different in my skin neither did I feel that relaxed by them and they smelt pretty bad!

Whilst in the bath, I thought I'd exfoliate because I am planning to fake tan tonight ready for tomorrow so exfoliating will get rid of any dead flaky skin so that I have a soft and smooth surface to work with, I don't want to be looking patchy! The body exfoliator that I used was the 'Clinique Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliating Cream' which I received as a gift with purchase. For body wash I decided to try out the 'Weleda Pomegranate Creamy Body Wash' from my Carmine Box Just to make sure my skin is hydrated after exfoliating. This body wash smells amazing and it is super creamy and hydrating on the skin.

To make sure that the skin on my face is in top condition, redness and blemish free I used my 'Clarisonic Classic' with my 'Nubo Cell dynamic Velvet Cleansing Cream' I don't use this combo everyday unless I am in need of a pick me up. By using both of these products I am combining physical with chemical exfoliation because the clarisonic brush head helps to deep cleanse whilst the Cleansing cream uses Fruit Acid peels to chemically eat away at the dead skin. After doing this my skin looks completely refreshed, smooth and evened out.

To make sure that I replace  what had been lost by exfoliation I used my 'Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque' I received this in my Glossy Box and I absolutely love it, I will definitely be buying the full size. This product has a concentrated vitamin formula that instantly livens dull and dry skin and because I have used it after the Clarisonic it works even better, my skin literally drinks this stuff!

After Shampooing my hair and whilst the Dermalogica Mask is on my face I used a conditioning treatment on my hair, the one I used is the 'Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner' to make sure that my hair is looking its best and easy to style on the day. I love this conditioning treatment because it doesn't have to be left on the hair for that long and it smells gorgeous.

After my bath I popped on some of this 'FC5 Arbonne Cooling Foot Cream' from my Glossy Box and then put on some socks so the warmth will help the cream to moisturise my feet more. I will be wearing pretty painful heels tomorrow night, so making sure my feet are pampered is a must because I always seem to neglect my poor feet, they get pretty battered after a night out!

Tonight before bed I will body brush using my 'Elemis Cactus Body Brush' doing this really gets my skin looking smooth as it stimulates the blood flow and gets rid of toxins which can also reduce the appearance of cellulite. Whenever I use this body brush people think that I am wearing clear tights because my legs look a lot smoother and evened out. I will do this just before I apply fake tan tonight to make sure that there's no dryness left, you'd be surprised at what comes off your skin with this brush.

The fake tan that I will be trying for the first time is by 'Beaubronz' I'm quite nervous about trying a new brand because I have no idea how it will turn out so I may be finding myself entering the new year pretty tangoed! I'll sleep with this on and then shower it off tomorrow.

I decided to do all of my pampering today instead of tomorrow because then I don't have to worry about it, I can just do my hair and makeup because I will probably be rushing about trying to decide everything last minute.

Part 2 will be coming up tomorrow of my hair, makeup and outfit!

How will you be celebrating New Years Eve?

Boxing Day Sales Haul

I managed to wake up early enough to get down to the boxing day sales. I have never been to the boxing day sales before so I was quite excited to spend some of my Christmas money on some bargains. I didn't end up buying that much because they were just crazy, everyone was pushing and shoving and crowding the sale racks whilst throwing clothes about. Also most of the clothes that I wanted never had my size unfortunately, so I am just telling myself that it was a good thing otherwise I would have spent more. I did manage to get 2 things that I wanted before they went on sale and managed to get a nice little bargain on them I spent £25 on 4 things, I think I did pretty well.

I brought things from Topshop & Miss selfridge. I did go into loads of shops but the whole rushing about and huge crowds got a bit to overwhelming.
TOPSHOP
Glittery Lightening bolt cut out shoulder top - £18 Reduced to £10
Velvet Metallic Skirt - £25 Reduced to £12
Gold multi row Necklace - £15 reduced to £5
I even managed to get an extra 10% student discount off them!
 MISS SELFRIDGE
Black Velvet Knotted Head Band £7.50 Reduced To £2

Did anyone shop in the sales yesterday? I might go back tomorrow to see what is left because they will be less crowded and they usually reduce the prices even more!

Christmas events!

I did plan to do this post much sooner, but unplanned expectancies occurred which took my time plus I went to the boxing day sales which was absolutely manic and I came home very tired indeed. So here is a few pictures from Christmas day including the lovely presents that I received and a quick out fit and makeup of the day!

This year we did something a little different, we had Christmas dinner on Christmas eve because my mum is always rushing around to get the dinner ready and then there is the washing up and tidying up so she never gets to spend much time with us. Another reason is because we have stuffed our bellies with lots of delicious food when we go into the living room to sit down and watch television, we start to feel tired and my dad even falls asleep!

I managed to take a picture of my presents but it was taken on my phone because I forgot to charge my camera!
Lipsy Body set & Lipsy makeup palette

Clarisonic Classic Cleansing system

I am very grateful with all of my lovely presents this year and I got the things that I asked for plus money which I am going to use to buy a few things that I have had my eye on for a while.

We then went to the pub for a few drinks with friends and family. My mum insisted on going with her Santa hat! It is a completely different atmosphere in the pubs on Christmas day, everybody is always happy and they are always packed.

1 More Sleep To Go!

I have only just started getting into the festive mood a few days ago, It started when we had all of Christmas decorations up and we were all sat by the fire drinking wine whilst watching The Grinch. When I was little I would be excited for Christmas at the start of December, maybe even earlier and I would get about 3 hours sleep because I was so excited! As i have grown up Christmas has started to become family time and a time for giving because I get more excited to see people open the presents that I have given to them more than opening my own. Oh and not forgetting the food! Christmas dinner has to be the best meal of the year.
Today I am going to get cracking with the rest of my present wrapping as I still have a few more to do. Then I will be making the cranberry sauce for the Christmas dinner.
Mum and dad have gone shopping to fill up the cupboards and freezer with Christmas Treats for tonight, tomorrow AND Boxing day as we are going to have quite a few friends and family round.

As always I am going to have to plan out my outfit and makeup to wear tomorrow because everyone likes to look nice on Christmas day. I will do an outfit of the day post tomorrow if I get time to do one which will probably be what i end up wearing from what received on the day because I can never wait to wear new clothes and makeup.
There will probably be a Christmas haul post of all of the presents that I received for Christmas and also I will be hitting the Boxing day sales like a mad woman because I've never been to the Boxing day sales. I am determined to go this year and pick up some bargains so I will do a post of whatever I manage to get from them.

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas, get lots of pressies, eat lots of food and just have a great time with friends and family!

New Bourjois Little Round Pots And Eye Pearls!

Another Bourjois post today but these have been in my 'Stuff to review pile' for a while now and needed to get round to reviewing them. I have never tried Bourjois eye shadows before but I have heard a lot about them so I was excited when I got the chance to try these out at the #HPMSocial event a few weeks ago. I was sent the Bourjois Little Round Pot Intense 05 which is a gorgeous teal colour and the Eye Pearls in Sublimation 63.

Made from 87% mineral pigments, precisely measured and selected, INTENSE is highly concentrated for 2 x more coverage than a classic eyeshadow in one single application. It is hypoallergenic, paraben- and fragrance-free and suitable for contact lens wearers.

When I first tried these out I tried quite a few shades and they were all very pigmented and they had such a gorgeous silky texture I was very impressed with them. I was instantly drawn to this colour in 05 as its something I wouldn't usually wear but I am going to try and create an eye look with it. These eye shadows really do pack some intense colour as you can see from the swatch. They have tiny shimmer particles but not as much as some eye shadows do so if you like matte eye shadows these would be fine too. These eye shadows aren't for those who are afraid of colour as they do make a statement but if you like bold eyeshadow colours, definitely try these out! These eye shadows will stick around for the whole day and they do tend to stain the skin, so I'd recommend using a primer beforehand. I also find that these eye shadows can be an absolute nightmare to blend because they are quite dry instead of being buttery and blendable (like the Urban decay eye shadows)
If you want more shimmer, these shadows can also be applied wet for a more intense frosty finish. I definitely want to try out more of these eye shadows as they have a few other colours that I want to get my hands on.
Available from boots £6.99
Next I have the Bourjois Eye pearls in sublimation 63 and they contain 5 shimmery colours to create a variation of looks. I love combining eye shadows, so having this little travel friendly pot to carry around with me is perfect.
I think the packaging is a little big for how small these shadows actually are. I don't think this palette will last me very long, they could have easily fitted bigger eye shadows in this packaging becasue these are tiny!
All of the Bourjois eye pearls contain:
A highlight colour
A colour for all over the lid
A colour for the crease
A darker colour for eyeliner on the upper lash line
A colour for the outer corners of the eyes
This was how I used this palette, you don't have to use them in this way if you prefer to create a different look with them. These shadows are very wearable and you could wear them in the day and night.

These shadows aren't very pigmented at all and they didn't swatch very easily using fingers as I had to apply a few layers to get the ideal colour even when using a brush. I'd recommend using these eye shadows with a dense firm bristle brush, these shadows will not work with synthetic brush hairs. They were also very powdery and I experienced quite a lot of fallout, so using a primer would help them to stick to the lids better.

Available from Boots £8.99

All of the new Bourjois eyeshadow are very nice, I prefer the round pots better than the eye pearls and I wont be purchasing the eye pearls as I wasn't as impressed with them. They are great to take around with me because my other palettes are too big to fit in my makeup bag but the overall quality of them wasnt the best. You also don't get that much product in them for £8.99 you're better off sticking to the sleek palettes!

Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Mascara!

Hi everyone! not long left until Christmas!
I have finally broken up from college which means that I can blog a lot more which I am happy about because I have been trying out quite a few new things and I have a stack of them to review but haven't had the time. So the first thing that I have is the new Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Mascara which I have been testing for the past week or so.
It contains natural wax and protecting and fortifying black pearl extract and is suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.
This mascara has gotten quite a lot of rave reviews since if has been released and they also have a waterproof version too if you prefer waterproof mascaras.
Bourjois states that this mascara gives 10x more volume and it definitely makes my eyelashes much more fuller at the roots when i first apply it. They also say that it gives 16 hours of hold, I particularly don't agree with this because I did notice that my eyelashes dropped towards the end of the day which happens quite a lot on me anyway. The formula of this mascara is not clumpy or wet its the nice in between consistency and even after the 3rd layer of mascara it still doesn't clump up the lashes.
As you can see the brush is huge and it does take some time getting used to if you don't normally use mascaras with big brushes. I did manage to get some mascara on my eyelid because the brush was so big but it does separate the lashes quite well and gives them a lot of volume. I didn't notice very much lengthening in this mascara when I applied the first layer but that is because it only claims to volumize. This mascara gives the lashes a more natural look than some mascaras out there. It wasn't until the 4th layer that I noticed my lashes looking more dramatic.
I have seen photos on other blogs of this mascara and it looks amazing on other peoples lashes and even lengthens them as well as volumizing, so I don't know why this isn't working that well on me but it does make my lashes very black and full. I don't use this mascara when I'm in a rush as it took me ages to layer it up to achieve this look.

Availability: Boots, Superdrug, Tesco
Price: £9.49
*PR Sample

Does anyone else have this mascara and did you get on with it better than i did? I don't think I would repurchase this because when I saw the price of it I was quite shocked as it is pricey for a drugstore mascara. Ive tried better ones that are much cheaper. If you like volumising mascaras then I would recommend this one because you can achieve lots of fullness without the clumpiness!

Clearasil Perfecta Wash Automatic Dispenser

I have been a pretty bad blogger this month *slaps hand* but its Christmas and it is a very busy time of the year, especially for me. So hopefully you will all forgive me! I am back now with a rather unusual gadget that I received in the post a few weeks ago. I have been trying it out for a while and there has been a few reviews of this product slowly emerging all over the internet and I think it will soon be one of those must have products of next year!

This is an automatic face wash dispenser by Clearasil a brand that I have used before in my earliest teenage years and I have only just started using their products again. I have become a bit of a product snob recently and turned a blind eye at drugstore skincare but I recently started using their face washes again and absolutely loved them and this new product by them has completely won me over.

Most of you will be familiar with Clearasil, they cater their products towards teens who suffer with spots/acne. I have never suffered with acne but I do get the odd spot now and again. Clearasil aims to try and get rid of spots as well as preventing them but the ingredients are pretty strong so if you have dry or sensitive skin I'd be careful when using Clearasil products.

This product however didn't leave my skin too stripped and dry and it foamed very nicely which gave my skin a good clean, leaving it feeling smooth and fresh. This can be used in the morning and evening, It will remove makeup too but it absolutely stings your eyes if you happen to get some in there. I was running around my bathroom like a headless chicken scrounging for a cloth to get it out of my eyes so i wouldn't recommend it for removing eye makeup. In a matter of hours I noticed that the spots on my chin were starting to dry up and shrink like magic! I am very impressed with how this product works because I had those annoying under the skin spots too and they seem to have shrunk.

The face wash that I have smells quite fruity but they also have another face wash which smells of plants so they don't smell chemically like some of their previous products.

The actual dispenser is quite sleek and it looks great in my bathroom, this is the first automatic dispenser that I have seen for the face and it is completely hands free but make sure you warn people that it isnt a hand wash dispenser! You simply just switch it on, put your hand under what resembles a tap and it will distribute the perfect amount of product. The bottles are replaceable and you can just buy a new one each time you run out, you don't have to buy a new dispenser and each bottle dispenses 100 doses of product.

The Clearasil Perfecta Wash system will retail for £12.99 and it will come with the dispenser and face wash, I'm not sure on the price of the individual refill bottles.

It will be available in January 2012 from Superdrug!

What do you think of this way of washing your face, too gimmicky or will you be getting your hands on this product next year? I'm definitely repurchasing refills!

New Cid i-Pout Review!

I received this lipstick in my Carmine box and as soon as I spotted this amongst everything else I instantly let out a squeal. I have heard a lot about New Cid Cosmetics but I have never got round to trying anything from them.

The shade that I received was a beautiful fuchsia pink colour with blue undertones. This colour is definitely one for the night as I don't think I would wear this in the day. Maybe when the summer comes I will be wearing this lipstick a lot more.

The packaging is quite simple but sleek and it is also very light weight. There is also a mirror on the lid with a built in light so that all lipstick applying on the go is hassle free and if you find yourself in the dark you will still be able to achieve the perfect pout. You could also use the light for other useful things such as finding your keys at the bottom of your bag or fishing out taxi fare after a night out, get my drift?

Top: New Cid i-Pout
Bottom: MAC Girl About Town

As soon as I saw the colour of this lipstick, it instantly reminded me of MAC'S Girl About Town lipstick but its a lot more cool toned and it isn't as bright. It is a lot more sheer and moisturising than the MAC lipstick. Considering how moisturising and buttery this lipstick is, it is very pigmented. The only downside that I could find with this lipstick is the smell and taste isn't very pleasant, it smells kind of old fashioned and waxy.

I think I will be trying out more products from this range, I have my eye on a few. There are counters in House Of Fraser & Selfridges and are also avaliable online from LookFantastic.com
RRP: £15.99

November's Empties #2

This is the second month of my mission to finnish up my products before I purchase new ones and It has gone quite well. My shelves and storage boxes are looking a lot neater without all of the half empty bottles of products and I have rediscovered some abandoned products. Some of these products are much loved ones that I have just finished up and need repurchasing but others I have started using again and forgot how much I used to love them, others just reminded me why I never used them at all.

Elemis Balancing Toner
This isn't a product that I have neglected and then started using again, I have been using this toner for years and I am always gutted when I run out because I love it and it is quite pricey. Sometimes toners don't actually do much for the skin but this one has great ingredients and it calms redness whilst brightening my skin. I also like using toners because they really refresh the skin and prepares the skin for anything that you put on it.

Clearasil clear n refine daily scrub
This is something that my mum brought for me when I had a little breakout earlier this year I remember using Clearasil when I was about 12 and I didn't think it was that good. I don't usually get breakouts so I was pretty much a diva about it all. This stuff didn't really work on huge breakouts so I just stopped using it until last month. I will be repurchasing this product because Clearasil seems to have changed a huge amount since I last used it about 8 years ago, it makes my skin feel so refreshed, soft and clean and I actually think its helps more in preventing breakouts but not so much in getting rid of ones that are already there.

Liz Earle Cleanse And Polish
This is my 3rd empty bottle of this cleanser and I have now repurchased another! This is always my go to cleanser when my skin is feeling a bit stressed and needs a break from any harsh ingredients, as this is all natural. I have tried others but for the price of this one I haven't found anything better than this. I get about 3-4 months usage out of each bottle which isn't too bad really. This leaves the skin very soft but I do have to cleanse twice at night when I am removing my makeup but still a great cleanser.

Max Factor Miracle Touch Creamy Blush
I think this is in the colour soft pink, everything has scratched off it. This product isn't completely empty, but I thought if I finished it up you all wouldn't be able to see the colour. I think I have a few uses left of this. This product is similar to the Topshop cream blushes but you get less product for the same price. Its great to chuck in your makeup bag as it isn't very big. I stopped using this product for a while and I have had it for about 2 years which isn't good i know but I do like using this. It doesn't last that long on the skin but it does give it a nice glow and it is very effortless to apply. I don't think I would buy anymore of these as the Topshop cream blushes are better value for money.

Kerastase Soleil Bain Apres-Soleil Shampoo

I brought this shampoo for my holiday back in June because it had UV filters and stopped the hair from drying in the sun. I did use it again on the days that we had really hot weather in the UK but I didn't really enjoy using this shampoo. It smelt lovely but considering it contained SLS I didn't get much of a lather from it I had to wash rinse and repeat just to get a proper wash from this. I did finish it up because I didn't want to waste it and there would be no point waiting until next summer to use it again I could just buy another UV shampoo.

Kerastase Ciment Thermique
I love this product I never left it on the shelf I use it every time I wash my hair. Its a cream that you put through your hair when it is damp and then activates when you dry it with the hairdryer and then protects it from the heat for up to 5 washes. This also makes my hair feel so soft and nourished I will be repurchasing another bottle of this as I have been going without it towards the end of the month and I have noticed my hair isn't as soft when I don't use this product.

Avon Supershock Mascara
This is probably my favourite lower end mascara and I have gone through endless tubes of this. It is very affordable and it makes my eyelashes look amazing. I have had this tub for ages but totally forgot about it because I have been buying other mascaras to try, so when I went back to using this I forgot how much I loved it. The smell of this mascara reminds me of pavements after it has just rained, is that weird or does anyone else think that too?

Monthly Favourites #3 - November!

Its monthly favourites time again! It has gone so quick and quite a lot has happened this month and I cant believe that when I do my next monthly favourites, Christmas would have come and gone and it will be the new year!
This month I went to my first blogging event and I have completely switched up my skincare routine which has made a huge improvement on my skin.
So anyway these are the products that I have been using and loving the most through the month of November.

Skincare!

Elemis Body Brush

I started body brushing in the summer and then as the weather got colder I stopped doing it because I would have to stand there in my underwear brushing my skin and it took quite a while each morning and night, I just didn't have the time. It made my skin feel and look so nice back then so I decided to try and start body brushing again because the winter just drys out my skin and even though it is covered up in layers I still hate neglecting my skin in winter which is easily done. I am glad that I have started body brushing again as I had forgotten how lovely it made the overall texture and look of my skin.

Nivea For Men Double Action Face Wash
Yes this is a men's face wash and the reason that I got into using this was because I had ran out of my Liz Earle Cleanse And Polish and silly me didn't think to get a backup, because I didn't realise that I was running out. When I had ran out, I spotted my dad's Nivea For Men face wash and i had a full face of makeup on so I was pretty much desperate so I thought why not It wont matter just this once. To my absolute amazement I ended up loving this product and my dad let me keep it. It does smell quite manly but I can look passed that because it completely removed my full face of makeup in one wash and it made my skin feel very squeaky clean but not tight or dry. This product is soap free which is even better I will definitely be buying this again.

Hydroxatone Skincare

I have switched up my skincare routine this month because I have been trying out 3 products from Hydroxatone. The Revitalising Microdermabrasion, Day and Night Moisturiser and Luminique facial brightener. I was sent these products to try out and so far I am absolutely loving them especially the microdermabrasion and the facial brightener. I wont go into too much detail about these products because A full review will be coming up soon.

Makeup!

YSL ombre solo eyeshadow shade 8
This is actually quite an old eyeshadow and I think it has been discontinued which is why I wasn't sure whether to include this on my monthly favourites but my mum gave me this at th start of the month and It has just been my go to eyeshadow ever since and it is the perfect colour for the season. I have been paring it with MAC Up The Amp Lipstick and it is such a great combo for winter. You could probably still get it online at cheapsmells.com or YSL may still do this colour but in a different form.

Mac Lipstick-Up The Amp
I have had this lipstick for about 4 months now but I haven't really worn it properly until this month really becasue I got it when it was still summer. I have found my love for this lipstick through the autumn and I think It will stay through winter too. You can see my swatch of it on my Lipstick Haul post that I did when I first brought this lipstick. I love dark and bold lipsticks in winter and this is one of them I think I am going to purchase more dark lipsticks for winter as I am feeling brave.

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer
I brought this last month but I hadn't really used it enough to include it in my October favourites. I have been using this concealer everyday since I brought it so I definitely think it deserves a place in my November favourites list. If you haven't got this yet I highly recommend that you do! It covers blemishes perfectly and it is great on under eye circles as well. The only fault which I know annoys a lot of people is the packaging, the writing will wear off within a week of being in your makeup bag. This concealer is probably better than some high end concealers and it was only £4 but you can get it for less in some places, Bargain!

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation
I brought this around April this year and I went through a stage of loving it but then I brought my Nars sheer glow foundation and completely moved on from it until recently I have been carrying it around with me in my makeup bag because it isn't as heavy as my Nars foundation which makes it easy for me to fit into my makeup bag. The formulation of this foundation is also a very lovely medium coverage and it really does just make your skin look healthy without looking too mask like and cakey. I also prefer that this has a pump which the Nars foundation doesn't so it is more convenient for travelling.

Vivo Cosmetics
glowy, and it is all down to the Vivo Baked Bronze in shade 3. I also received the Vivo Baked Blush in my Handpicked Media Get Social Event Goody bag and the shade is Cinnamon Glow, this paired with the MAC Up The Amp Lipstick and The YSL Eyeshadow looks amazing. I may have to do a face of the day showing you this combo

Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner (In Moray)I got this eyeliner in my October Glossy box and I didn't really take much liking to it when I first tried it but this month I picked it up instead of my black eyeliner and because I was holding it I decided to give it another go. I actually really liked this eyeliner, I have been using it on my eyelids and on the lash line for most days this month as it is quite effortless. This eyeliner seriously does not budge all day! I really recommend these if you are looking for a smudge proof and waterproof eyeliner.

HD Brows - Vamp
Another product that I featured last month and another product that I received in my Glossy box. I cannot say enough about this product I think this will never move from my favourites, although I am looking to buy the sleek eyebrow kit so I shall have to see how that compares to this. Ever since this product came in every ones Glossy box's there has been quite a lot of hype over it, it is the best eyebrow product I have ever tried even my boyfriend robs this off me to fill in bald spots in his eyebrows, worrying much?

Next time I do my December favourites, I will most likely be the new year unless I do it early which I never manage to do so I will be looking forward to seeing what I get for Christmas and If I discover any new products!
