I had recently made a purchase on the Illamasqua website and since then I have been using these products non-stop!
I purchased three cream blushes and two lipsticks I hadn't tried any of Illamasqua's makeup before so I made a pretty brave decision in spending all this money on them. I have been wanting to try some illamasqua makeup for ages as I have heard great things about them especially the cream blushers and as a huge blusher fan myself I just had to try them.

Illamasqua Cream Blush 'Promise'

The colour of 'Promise' is quite a bold blue toned pink and it is a gorgeous shade that would suit all skin tones because it can be built up or blended to sheer it out a little. I love this colour for in the day as it can be applied effortlessly with fingers or a brush because it isn't as strong as the other cream blushes from Illamasqua. It gives a lovely flush of baby pink to the cheeks which instantly brightens up the skin without any shimmer.
Illamasqua Cream Blush 'Seduce'
This blush is a warm pinkish rose almost raspberry colour and It is the most pigmented out of the three that I own and you literally only need a dab of this as the colour can be pretty intense so if you are much paler I'd be careful when using this. I use this blush with a Mac Stippling brush which helps to blend out this blush and make it look more natural rather than just sitting on the skin. This blush has no shimmer so it can be applied for a minimal makeup look if it is blended out correctly. I wouldn't recommend using this blush with fingers because I have tried it and it doesn't give me the desired look that I am after. I'd describe this as a winter blush colour because it is the colour that my cheeks go when it is cold outside!
Illamasqua Cream Blush 'Rude'
The last blush that I picked up is a warm peachy pink colour. It is the same consistency as the cream blush in 'Promise' in that it can be built up whereas the cream blush in 'seduce' applied much heavier and needs to be blended out. This colour gives a light glow to the cheeks when blended and looks very natural despite looking quite orangy but because there is also no shimmer in this blush you could get away with it when wearing minimal makeup. I'd describe this as a summer colour because everyone embraces the dewy peachy look with their tanned skin in the summer, but this looks just as nice in winter to add a bright radiance to dull skin.
Here are the colours heavily swatched so you can see the pigment of them. The colour 'seduce' didn't need any layering to achieve the pigmentation that you can see here.
Now here are the colours blended out. As I was blending out these blushes I did realise that they started to set which made it harder to blend, I didn't realise this before because I would apply them to my cheeks and blend straight away so make sure that you work pretty quickly with them.
Overall I am happy with these blushes and I definitely want to get more colours. They last a long time on the cheeks and I just love the creamy dewy finish that they give. The packaging also wins me over because it is very sleek and classy whilst also being functional because I can clearly see which colour I am picking up and everything that you need to know is printed clearly on the back. These are also great for travelling because they are very lightweight and sturdy so they wont smash in your makeup bag or if you were to drop them. These blushes would also look great on the lips if you wanted to go for that matching makeup look!
These blushes are not cheap, at £16.50 but you do get a lot of product and you only need a small amount so they would last a very long time even if you were using them everyday because they are also long wearing so no need to re-apply!
You can get them HERE
*Excuse the quality of these photos, my camera battery ran out as I was taking photos so I had to switch to my phone camera, I also took the photos of the lipsticks before I used them but managed to loose those pictures so I had to retake them after being used which doesn't make them look as nice :( Boo!*
The other products that I picked up were two Illamasqua lipsticks, I have heard good things about these so I wanted to try them as see how they compared to other lipsticks and if they justified their price. The colours that I have are 'Sangers' and 'Brink'

Illamasqua Lipstick 'Brink'
I absolutely love the colour of this lipstick, not so much the consistency. As you can see this lipstick is showing an absolute multitude of sins on my winter chapped lips! It is a pale peachy colour ( I don't know where to stop with the peach coloured makeup I'm afraid) and it is very matte, no shimmer, no moisture nothing! This type of consistency took some getting used to and it does pull on the lips when applying so I have to make sure that I exfoliate the dead skin off them and apply a lip balm before using this lipstick because this lipstick will not look pretty if you have dry patches, it will just look like a chalky mess. It is a lovely soft shade and I have gotten used to the texture of it because it does last a very long time even after eating and drinking.
Illamasqua lipstick 'Sangers'
This lipstick doesn't look as drying on the lips but it is in fact the exact same matte formula as the lipstick in 'Brink' It is described as a 'Blood Red' colour which I can agree with. This is a very bright red and it will definitely make a statement. It lasts a very long time on the lips and even stains them red as well.
Perfect for valentines day!

I really want to get a cream blusher. They look more natural. i want to buy some from topshop first and if not impressed then I will splash out. These blushers look great though tempted!

@sam ram - The topshop blushes are great too, they arent as dewy becasue they dry to a powder finish and I dont think they last that long on the skin but they are great for £6 :)

Uhh lovely products. Now I definitely need to try out Ilamasqua :) xx
ReplyDeleteLovely purchases!! I LOVE Brink, it is one of my favourite lipsticks colour- wise, but I totally have the same problems as you in that it is drying and sticks to all the bad bits!! I'd recommend powder blusher 'Lover.' Need to try the cream blushes!! xx
ReplyDeleteI wish they sold Illamasqua here in Canada... totally regretting not buying everything when I was at Selfridges in London last year.
